The game started at a high tempo at both ends. The first Valencia CF chance fell to Gonçalo Guedes who tried his luck from outside the area but his powerful low drive went straight at Bono who palmed it away.
Both sides exchanged possession in a tough and cagey spell in midfield. Minutes later, Jaume Doménech stuck out his leg out to deny Oliver Torres from close range over the quarter-hour mark.

The first half finished scoreless with all to play for in the second half in Nervión.
The second half picked up where it left off and ex-Valencia CF man Munir provided an early scare hitting the far post two minutes into the second half with Valencia CF trying to find a foothold in the game.
Sergio Reguilón made it 1-0 to Sevilla FC on 55 minutes who grew into the game following their goal with Valencia CF looking to regain possession whilst going through a stagnant passage of play following the home side goal.
